Cloudy’s Knight, winner of last month’s Kentucky Cup Turf, won the Sycamore Stakes (G3) Thursday at Keeneland. The 9-year-old gelding raced neck-and-neck with pre-race favourite Winchester in a dual stretch-drive, and the pair caught Yate’s Black Cat just a few yards before the wire. Cloudy’s Knight prevailed over Winchester by a head at the finish, with Yate’s Black Cat another half-length back in third. Time for the 1 1/2 miles on a “firm” turf course: 2:30.87.
Champion Stayer Award standings — update:
Cloudy’s Knight’s two G3 wins give him eight points, but aren’t enough to boost him up to the leader board, so the standings remain unchanged since the previous update.
