Stayers' Watch: Rood and Riddle Dowager Stakes · 31.10.09
In what was likely the final start of her career, 6-year-old race-mare Black Mamba captured the Rood and Riddle Dowager Stakes at Keeneland on Oct. 25. She swept past pacesetter Tarheel Girl coming into the homestretch of the 1 1/2-mile ungraded turf race, then held off several challenges on her way to a 1 1/2-length win. New Zealand-bred Black Mamba clocked a slow 2:37.07 over a deep turf course. Winterview finished second, with Ballynoe third.

Again, none of the top three finishers in the Dowager are on or close to the top 10 in the standings, so there is no change.
