Hitting rock bottom · 25.06.10

Some of you might remember how I was raving about a two-year-old named El Sinaloense a couple of years ago. After winning five straight at Hastings, including four stakes, he looked like a star in the making. But “El Sin” tailed-off badly in the fall, beaten decisively in the Jack Diamond Futurity and Ascot Graduation. He was obviously tired and sore, and would have bone chips removed in the off-season — also, it was obvious that the rest of his generation was catching up to the early-maturing speedster. Although he was still voted top juvenile in B.C. that year, El Sinaloense never did return to winning form.

Earlier tonight (25 June) he was entered in a $3000 claimer — he pressed the early pace, then faded to finish fifth out of eight. It looks like El Sin is done — let’s hope his connections do right by him and find him a good home.

  1. Hard to believe but TWO past Jack Diamond futurity winners were in that same race, the other being Desert Alf. Neither did well.

  3. Its sad to say and see El Sin run ..he was cooked as a 2yr old ..remember how he looked in the paddock for the ascot..sad to see a man with so much money could not just find him a good..home..
