- Hastings rallies for April Friesen — The initial estimate of almost $35,000 raised to cover Friesen’s medical expenses was an underestimate. She was given a cheque for $42,000 yesterday.
- These guys are Swift — Burj Dubai made it 2-for-2 on Sunday, winning the 4th race by 3/4-length over tough Seminole Brave. Perhaps the only surprise was his odds-on status at post-time facing a field of veteran sprinters in only his second start — there’s definitely a buzz around this horse.

Burj blew away some of the best sprinters on the grounds, and I yelled out, NOT THINKING that he was four: “well you have a good DERBY horse there,” until calmer heads prevailed and reminded me of that fact. Dah!!!
