Stayers' Watch: Pacific Customs Brokers Marathon Series · 23.07.08
Hastings Racecourse’s annual Pacific Customs Brokers Marathon Series began this past weekend. The first race was only 1 1/8 miles, but future races in the starter handicap series will get progressively longer until the finale on 1 November, a 1 3/4 mile test for a $30,000 added purse.
On Sunday the good race-mare Against the Sky pressed the early pace, took command after 6f, and drew off to win by over 10 lengths over Lil Victor G and distance specialist Lord Vic.
These races aren’t at a high-enough level to be counted in the Unofficial Champion Stayer standings, but it’s good that Hastings is providing an opportunity for distance specialists like thses to show what they can do.

If people have not seen Against the Sky, she is one of the largest thoroughbreds you will see competing at Hastings standing almost 17 hands.
